Description
? DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant): The Fifth International Conference on Self-Healing Materials will be co-hosted by Duke, North Carolina State, UNC Chapel Hill, and North Carolina Central University on June 22-24, 2015 in Durham, NC. As the program chair of ICSHM2015, and a long-time NIH-funded researcher in biomaterials, one of the PI's primary goals is to bring biomaterials to the self-healing community. This will be accomplished by offering at ICSHM2015 the first- ever Symposium on Self-Healing Biomaterials to be held at any venue. However, five of the eight invited symposium speakers have never attended the ICSHM and will need to be incentivized to attend the conference. Therefore, funds are requested to support the travel and registration waivers for five invited symposium speakers, as well as registration waivers for ten students/postdocs from the biomaterials community. Priority for the student/postdoc registration waivers will go to members of underrepresented groups. A small amount of administrative salary is also requested.
